The Masters in Environmental Studies
The Master of Environmental Studies (MES) addresses the increasing need for professionals who are well versed
in the scientific, social, and political fundamentals that affect the environment and who can work within an interdisciplinary
framework to reclaim and preserve environmental quality.
Advanced study of the environment at
BUonline brings together researchers and practitioners
in the physical and biological sciences, economics, social sciences, and other arts and sciences disciplines with
professionals in planning, health care and the law. This multidisciplinary approach provides graduates with the
breadth necessary to address the complex nature of the environment as well as the depth to provide specific expertise
in environmental restoration and protection.
The Master of Environmental Studies (MES) degree meets the academic interests of a diverse community of college
graduates who seek graduate-level education in environmental analysis and management. The MES program at BUonline undertakes to expose its students to the range of disciplines that must be considered in
addressing critical environmental problems, while ensuring that each student develops expertise to the level of
a responsible professional.
The MES degree requires the completion of 12 course units, including the completion of an independent research
Capstone Project. Each student in the MES program will work with a faculty member who will guide the student's
course selection and research.
