There is a common first semester for full-time students.

Requirements for completing the major are as follows:

  • Students are required to have completed or be currently studying the foundation units before enrolling in second year courses.
  • The student must have first semester sophomore standing.
  • Seven courses are a required core which all fine Arts majors must take
  • Three Art History courses are also required
  • Concentrations are available for Fine Arts Major in:
    • Painting
    • Sculpture
    • Public art
    • Photography
  • During the Senior year a Fine Arts Major will take the two Senior Seminars.
  • The senior year culminates in a Senior Thesis Exhibition for the Senior Majors completing their Seminar and Project Research.
  • The student's cumulative GPA will be taken into account at the time of application. A cumulative GPA of less than 2.0 is considered beneath the standard for admission to major.
  • Fourteen courses make up the minimum requirement for the major.
